3rd “Train the Trainers” 5 day Chess Training Workshop for Balwadi Sevikas

3rd “Train the Trainers” 5 day Chess Training Workshop for Balwadi Sevikas organised by Chess Activity Centre at GVM 's Primary School in association with Almeda high School, Ponda was concluded today. 16 Sevikas from Ponda area and two teachers from Almeda School took part in this workshop.

"Train-the-Trainers" Chess Training Workshop


Train the trainers 5 day Chess workshop for Balwadi Sevikas concluded

6th April to 10th April, 2010

Train the Trainers 5 day (6th to 10th April 2010) chess workshop for Balwadi sevikas organized by Chess Activity Centre and ICG, Dona Paula was concluded today at The International Centre Goa, Dona Paula (Mandovi Hall).

Social Activist Pravin Sabnis was the Chief Guest and ICG Director Nandini Sahai was Guest of Honour for the closing ceremony. Certificates and The Right Move book was given to the participants. 15 Balwadi Sevikas from Bardes Taluka took part in this workshop\. Six employees from Powergrid, Kolwale also participated in the workshop.

How to teach chess to children, Pawn chess games and other types of chess games were explained. Guidance were also given on Swiss League system and how to organize small chess tournament.

Shrikant Barve and Shravan Barve conducted this 5 day workshop.

3 Balwadi sevikas and 2 from Powergrid express their views about the workshop. Sandeep Heble Join Secretary of the Chess Activity Centre compared the closing ceremony event.

Introductory session ‘Train-the-Trainers’ held, 3rd April 2010 at The International Centre Goa, Dona Paula

On Saturday 3rd April a special session were organized to provide detail & summarized idea about ‘Train-the-Trainers’ Chess Training workshop by Chess Activity Centre & The International Centre Goa, Dona Paula.

26 Balwadi Sevikas and other 5 took part in this session, Shrikant Barve told idea behind organising 5 day ‘Train-the-Trainers’ Chess Training workshop and gave brief idea of the workshop with the help of on power point presentation and Chess Demonstration board.

Gauri Hadkonkar of Rosary High School, Dona Paula with 5 points won first prize, Somesh Takkekar(4), Sharmad Bodke(4) Pranav Shirodkar(4) and, Girish Kulkarni(3.5) stood 2nd to 5th respectively at Super Chess Housie V Chess Tournament on 3rd April 2010 at The International Centre Goa, Dona Paula for 1st to 7th std students, organised by Chess Activity Centre in association with The International Centre Goa, 26 children participated.

Armature Goan Artist/Cartoonist Mitesh Gaonkar, Viparna Vaigankar, Shruti Betkikar and Vibhav Kamat presented their skill on canvas.

Earlier Prof. Rajashree Bandodkar Karapurkar interacted with children and parents with her stories on environment and her Kokani book “Saimakade Samwad’ .

Dr. Minakshi Martins and Nagesh Sardesai were Chief Guest at prize distribution function.

Dr. Minakshi Martins in address said that children should learn chess as research has shown that Chess helps child in many ways. Decision making ability, Concentration, memory etc. Physical size of brain increases if child plays chess regularly.
